Description
First pressing. August 6, 1965. Black label with yellow logo and silver print. “The Gramophone Co. Ltd.” prnted at the start perimeter print and “Sold in U.K. subject…” text. Capitol print. Tracing-paper-lined “Use Emitex” die-cut inner sleeve. With or without KT tax code(or MT) on the label. Matrix numbers: Side 1: XEX 549-2; Side 2: XEX 550-2
Why is this the 1st Pressing? There are many specifications that needs to be researched to class an album as a first press. This one in particular is a 1st Press due to the following specifications:
1. The Inner Sleeve is the tracing paper lined die-cut with"Use Emitex" written on it 2. This particular album has the erroneous Tax Code of "MT" instead of "KT". Many speculate that due to the rush in volume, the manufacturer used older blank discs with the "M" code instead of "K" 3. The * credit indicator for “I Need You” was placed to the right of the song title with a space between: "I Need You *" Later Pressings corrected this and added the indicator with no space- "I Need You*" 4. The Second line of track 1 Side 2 starts with "NCB" not "Biem" as in later variations
Condition:
I visually inspected this album and also listened to it. I used the Goldmine Records System to visually grade the album and its condition is as follows: Cover- Very Good +: There is some discolouration and signs of ageing. There is also wear along the edges and spine, and most prominent on the opening edges(as can be exptected inserting and removing the album over time). Vinyl- Very Good +: There are many light surface marks and scuffs visible to the naked eye. When playing the album, there are no skips or jumps and you can hear the expected and normal crackling and noise for a Vinyl this age. It plays really well with lots of warmth and character.
I will post this "Signed For" delivery because of its value and include a free outer plastic sleeve and an inner anti static sleeve.
