Description

PCS3071 1st Stereo pressing from 1965 on the UK Parlophone label. Matrix -1/-1. Stampers 1-AR/4-RH. The record comes housed in its original 'Stereo' Garrod and Lofthouse sleeve and includes the Emitex inner sleeve. Please note this record holds the abbreviated 'Lark Mus.' credit and the asterisk after the track 'I Need You *'.
Cover (Ex-) Looks to be in great condition. The HELP! cover is always a tricky one to find in nice true white condition, but this one seems to have survived the years very well in deed. This is particularly surprising given that it is a bona fide 1st issue and a hard to find stereo copy [manufactured in far lower numbers in 1965 than mono]. The rear is only suffering some very mild fading and there's no markings or writing to speak of. Please note that the structural integrity of the cover is excellent. It has a nice rigid feel to it, all flip backs are intact, the spine is still square and fully intact as is the text. Overall a very respectable example of an extremely difficult issue to find.
Vinyl (Ex-) Again, judging by the label shots this record has not seen excessive play. A close visual inspection reveals a couple of very, very, light marks - nothing that is troublesome or likely to sound. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a near EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across very well indeed with only minimal interference. Toward the end of T.T.R. there's some light crackle just audible in the high-end and one or two crackles at the start of 'Act Naturally'. Setting this aside the actual audio quality is excellent. Better than Mono?..I don't wish to get into that argument, but certainly different - slightly more spacial and more noticeable reverb. Most importantly the quality of the audio is high - you can pick out the percussion easily due to the clarity. So, not only a difficult version to find, but a very decent playing copy to boot.
Emites (Vg+) Light ageing. No markings or splits.
