I AM THE WALRUS / HELLO GOODBYE
~ Capitol Records #2056 original 1967 release ~
Included in this auction is a record sleeve I consider to be a solid near mint for reasons given herein. 1) No record ring on either side of the sleeve, not even a hint. 2) No fading of the colors, no greasy smudgy finger prints, no dirt, stains or soiling of any kind for that matter. 3) No rips, tears or seam splits along the edges. 4) No creased or scrunched corners. What it does have is very trivial, and that being the overhang paper running along the top is slightly curled at the corners, and there are two small thumb indent marks near the top edge ( you could probably trim this overhang off and eliminate these if you so wished). Also a handful of very tiny edge creases along one side edge ( only noticeable when looking closely at an angle ). Last to mention is the 'A' sticker previous owner applied to Walrus side, you might be able to steam and remove it without damaging paper.
The record has trace amounts of tiny scratches, again you need lighting and angle to locate these, therefore I consider them minor overall. The label on "Hello Goodbye" side is clean and shows no wear, even around the spindle hole. Interesting to note in last picture below... under magnification you can see a faint double stamp of the words on right side of label. This side of record also has a small, light transparent milky stain on the record itself. Label side of "I Am The Walrus" is clean but showing trace amounts of wear around the spindle hole. The yellow on the label is a little transparent and appears to be a production flaw like the double stamp on reverse side of record.
This is a favorable inclusion to a collection, in my humble opinion!
