Description

The Beatles - 'Let It Be' (Album & 'Get Back' Book From Same Original Box Set) PCS 7096 1970 Red Apple 1st Press EX/EX/EX+

I bought this box set on the day it was released, then threw the box away (it was 'flimsy rubbish' apparently - not an entirely unfair assessment to be honest). So what we have left are the best and most important two pieces of the puzzle - a 1st Press Red Apple copy of 'Let It Be' and the copy of the book 'Get Back' that it came with.

Matrix / Runouts:

YEX 773-2U  GP 2

YEX 774-2U  MP 2

Vinyl: EX

The vinyl looks excellent. Bright, clean and glossy like the day it was bought. There are a few very light surface marks on each side, but apart from three small tics on 'One After 909' they don't affect playback or sound quality at all.

The record plays beautifully from start to finish, with only the lightest hint of background static in places, as you would expect from a record of this age. Rated EX overall, it plays closer to EX+ for the most part. A true collector's item.

Cover / Sleeve: EX / EX-

The red apple sleeve is in stunning condition. There is a light ring of sleeve rub front and back, and a small scratch mark between 'Two Of Us' and the intro text. The corners have only very light rub wear, as does the centre of the spine, but not the text areas.

The original Apple die-cut inner sleeve is in excellent condition, with only mild signs of ageing and a few wrinkles.

Labels: EX+

The labels are in near perfect condition, with the exception of a few light spindle marks.

Get Back: EX-

The book is in excellent condition for its age. There are a few marks on the front, including a couple of tiny nicks on the edge. The back has a larger, more significant scratch/mark, but the glued spine and pages are all still in terrific shape, as are the contents. A superb copy of this increasingly rare find.
