"Love Me Do" is the historic debut single by The Beatles, originally released in the UK in 1962. However, in the United States, Capitol Records initially passed on the band, leading the licensing to fall to Vee-Jay Records and its subsidiary, Tollie Records. This specific US release hit the shelves in April 1964 during the height of the British Invasion.
The version of "Love Me Do" found on this single is the one featuring session drummer Andy White, with Ringo Starr playing tambourine. This was the version producer George Martin preferred for the original album and subsequent US singles, as opposed to the version with Ringo on drums found on the initial UK 7-inch.
