Description

This auction is for a Beatles MFSL Box Set, comprised of 14 LP’s.

 

The Beatles: The Collection was a vinyl box set of every Beatles album remastered at half speed from the original stereo master recordings, except for Magical Mystery Tour which was mastered from Capitol Records' sub masters with the last three tracks in re-channeled stereo.

Each album was pressed on virgin vinyl by the Victor Company of Japan ensuring the best sound quality possible. The album covers were replaced with photographs of tape boxes and log sheet.

The original album covers were included in a booklet which also featured a certificate of authenticity as this was a limited edition collection.

The Collection was lauded for the superb sound, and sold-out completely within the first year. MFSL repressed a second run of the Beatles Box Set for a total production run of 25,000 over the next two years or until October 1985.

This project was the first and only time the Beatles master tapes ever left Abbey Road studios.

 

This is #9317 (ca.1982)  of the 25,000 produced, containing 13 Parlophone LP’s, including the double “White Album”, comprising a total of 14 LP recordings.

 

Also contains the original Album Book & Geo Disc.

 

The vinyl is pristine, and I do not think it has ever been played or removed from the slipcase.

 

The Album Book & Geo Disc appear to be unused; with only the slightest of discernible wear.

 

This box set has sat “shelved” with my extensive record collection & not handled in the last 20 years or so.

 

Not “mint-mint”, but really nice condition. Nearly 30 years old too!
