Extremely Rare 4 Track, Reel-to-Reel, Stereo Tape
This very, very rare 1964 Beatles Meet The Beatles! is truly a collector's item. It is a 4 Track 33/4" (inches per second), Stereo, Reel-to-Reel tape (Z4 2047) encased in its original box.
When the Beatles signed on with the U.S.'s Capitol Records in late 1963, the reel- to-reel tape was the only tape alternative to vinyl. Professional recordings were made on reel tapes and were reproduced at one half or one fourth of the recorded speed for the public. Purchasers of reel tapes were generally seen as audiophiles, and these tapes were thought to be better quality recordings than vinyl. In fact, Capitol issued very few of its "popular" albums on reel tape.
Condition: The box is in Very Good condition with slight yellowing and a 1/8" tear on the bottom of the spine (see photo below). The Reel itself is in Excellent condition, as is the label.
This item was given to me by a friend's father over 30 years ago and I have never played this tape. It has been stored quietly all this time with other Beatles memorabilia.
