An iconic Please Please Me is The Beatles first LP album published on 22 Mar 1963 as a mono version with Parlophone catalogue number PMC 1202.
This record is from the fourth pressing that features a new black label with yellow logo and silver print used between summer 1963 and January 1964. A perimeter print begins with a fully capitalised THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD., the added RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1963 is placed below a matrix number, and KT tax code is embossed around a spindle hole on Side 2.
It was produced in the second half of 1963 at a record factory in Hayes, Middlesex, England, by Parlophone Co. Ltd., a division of EMI Records Limited which was a record manufacturing and distribution arm of EMI in the UK overseeing their labels.

The front laminated cover of a flipback sleeve features a Parlophone trademark, PLEASE PLEASE ME ★ THE BEATLES and large MONO at the top. THE BEATLES, PLEASE PLEASE ME with Love Me Do and 12 other songs in yellow, red and blue are printed against the photo background.
The shot was taken at the headquarters of EMI Limited at 20 Manchester Square in London's West End in early 1963 by Angus McBean. In 1995 EMI moved to West London taking the balcony railing with them.    
Matrix numbers are etched in the run-out area - at the 12 o’clock position: XEX 421-1N on Side 1 and at the 6 o’clock position: XEX 422-1N on Side 2.
The record is also protected by a die-cut inner sleeve lined with tracing paper, and printed with care instructions and Emitex advertising.
Introducing the album, Tony Barrow writes: "The Beatles adopt a do-it-youself approach from the very beginning. They write their own lyrics, design and eventually build their own instrumental backdrops and work out their own vocal arrangements. Their music is wild, pungent, hard-hitting, uninhibited ... and personal. ... their only real influence has been from the unique brand of Rhythm and Blues folk music which abounds on Merseyside and which The Beatles themselves have helped to pioneer since their formation in 1960."

The condition of a record is Very Good Plus (VG+) except for the faded name of an original owner written on a label. The vinyl has some light scratches noticeable only at a certain angle, it retains most of its original gloss. There are minor marks around a spindle hole. The flipback sleeve is in a Very Good Plus (VG+) condition. Some corners are slightly bent and frayed, and there are occasional light creases on the laminated surface. A condition is graded by visual inspection and in accordance with Goldmine® Grading Guide.                                                                                                                                                                                                                Provenance
