Description

The Beatles - Please Please Me

1st pressing of The Beatles awesome first album on the legendary gold and black Parlophone label. This is the original pressing with Dick James Music credits for Please Please Me, I Saw Her Standing There, Misery, Do You Want To Know A Secret & There's A Place. Matrix numbers are: XEX 421-1N, XEX 422-1N. I can't see any tax code on the label.

Sleeve is the original EJ Day one with the Angus McBean credit just 5mm from the bottom as it should be for the original copy.

This isn't a mint copy but if you don't want to spend the best part of a £1000 on a minter then you won't go far wrong with this.

Please take a look at my other auctions where I am also selling a mega rare Beatles Sessions LP.

  • Label: Parlophone
  • Year: 1963
  • Catalogue Number: PMC 1202
  • Sleeve: Laminate is still nice and bright and the spine is excellent still perfectly readable. Some creasing on bottom corners. Top and bottom seams have been taped for the first 8cm in from the opening. Top seam is quite badly scuffed in places and although not split it has worn through in patches in the middle. On reverse the flipbacks are mainly intact except at top right where there is 5cm of damage. No ink markings. Not a perfect copy but not too bad! I toyed with the idea of replacing this sleeve with a much better condition later issue but decided to leave it original. Grade as GOOD+
  • Inner Sleeve: Poly lined paper sleeve that I believe is the original in EX.
  • Vinyl: Labels are nice and clear with no major damage to them at all. The spindle holes have been blacked in with a bit of pen as have 2 very small scuffs on the A side label. Vinyl is a lovely and heavyweight and retains a nice gloss. It suffers from no warping at all. There are some light scratches and a few deeper ones. One is one the A side across band 4 and partly on 3 & 5, another is on B side across band 7. B side also has what appears to be some needle drop damage intermittently across bands 2,3 & 4. I have just listened to the whole LP and it plays through without a problem. There is some background noise especially between tracks (it's quite heavy then) but nothing that detracts from the awesome raw sound of the music. There is also the occasional pop and crackle (mainly on the deeper scratches, but also in a few other places). I haven't attempted to clean the LP, as I will leave that to the winner but I do think that a good clean will result in a noticeably improved sound. This isn't a mint copy but it still sounds great and will be a superb addition to anyones collection. Grade as GOOD+ / VERY GOOD-

I've graded this very strictly to avoid any disappointment and really believe someones going to be really happy to add this to their collection.

Gradings are based on Record Collector's grading system. Bid with confidence as all my vinyls come with a money back guarantee.

Please feel free to ask any questions. I always offer a discount on postage for multiple purchases, just let me know at the end of the auction if you intend to bid on other items so I can keep track of things!
