The Beatles - Please Please Me LP mono PMC 1202 XEX 421/422 - 1 N
"Copies of the Please Please Me LP pressed immediately after the switch to the yellow and black label can be found with "33 1/3 RPM" instead of "Recording first published 1963" on the label. THIS IS THE "TRANSITIONAL" COPY BEFORE "FIRST PUBLISHED 1963" WAS ADDED BUT AFTER THE REMOVAL OF THE SMALL 33RPM NEAR THE CENTRE HOLE. IT ALSO HAS THE RARER COVER PRINTED AND MADE BY ERNEST J DAY. The vinyl is VG + and sounds great, only light surface marks that do not affect play, more detail below. Original inner sleeve.
"The change for this label was the removal of the small 33 1/3 logo text above the matrix number toward the left hand side of the label. The reason for this text appearing on the Black and Gold copies was, obviously, to denote the speed at which the disc should be played. But on the new Yellow and Black label design, a much larger 33 1/3 logo appears above the "PARL" of the "Parlophone" text logo. As such, the smaller logo was deemed unnecessary and removed from this 3rd label onwards. This didn't seem to have stayed in use for long before the 4th label appeared so it is relatively rare.
There is argument over whether this 3rd label is actually a "label" in our sense of the word, as it could be a variant of the 2nd label. For now it will remain as the 3rd as this will keep it in line with the Record Collectors' Price Guide listings (even though there are slight differences to ours) and also to not confuse common knowledge. CONDITION:
Label : Small Biro writing in the Parlophone "£" circle
Record : Minor surface marks and a very light hair-line scratch mark on side B but this does not affect play, plays fine throughout LP with some light crackle in places.
Sleeve : Wear at edges and on the back the bottom right fold has come away (see pics) .Payment within 7 days after sending of invoice please.
