Description
The Beatles Please Please Me Black + Gold Mono PMC 1202 1st Pressing as released 22 March 1963, Black + Gold Labels Dick James Credits and First Issue sleeve with Photo Angus McBean Credit after the S of Songs, XEX 421-1N XEX 422-1N Mothers are 2 GO + 1 M , the Early MT Tax Code to Side 1, There is a split to top of sleeve opening side with 10cm of fold over loose but the white back relatively clean, Laminated front has rub to corner so now reads just Angus which is after S of Songs as it should be on these first issue sleeves, These early thick vinyl pressings take the scratches well as is the case here and audio is VGC/ VGC+ no skips or jumps but crackles and pops particularly on silent run ins, If you want the true experience of the record buyers at the time these are the LP`s to listen to and these Black + Gold 1950`s Font Labels were only briefly available March / April + perhaps the beginning of May of 1963 then they issued the updated more familiar Yellow + Black, A number of the McCartney Lennon Songs were misattributed to Dick James Music on this 1st pressing as George Martin had not been informed of Northern Songs being set up by Epstein, Some of the later Black + Gold`s carry the correct Northern Songs Credits these are very limited in number but its this one most collectors aspire to owning, The handful of these I have seen Ex+ / Nr Mint are cost prohibitive now fetching the kind of money previously reserved for the Stereo`s, Posting Immediate
