The Record is in excellent visual condition, with minor surface scratches and marks only. No deep scratches or other marks. The labels are both very clean and clear. Audio playback confirms this as an excellent copy. Great analogue, mono sound from 1966. For example, the bass on ‘And Your Bird Can Sing’ is still big and boomy! There are just a few clicks here and there, nothing to distract the listener.
The labels are very clean and clear. KT is embossed on side 1. ‘Doctor Robert’ is on side two, which John Lennon insisted was the correct title rather than Dr. Robert, which is on the cover and first pressings. The typeface font and layout is also different from first pressings
The Garrod & Lofthouse ‘patents pending’ flipback cover is still fairly white and has no writing or stickers. It does have some corner wear and a pinhole in the top right hand corner, which goes through to the back. There is some minor laminate creasing visible on the front. On the back the bottom flipback has just peeled its laminate slightly in the bottom right hand corner. Also the flipback on the spine edge also has a slight dent in it, where the edge has taken a knock, but that’s very minor. The spine is clear and undamaged and overall this cover is a very respectable example from 1966 despite a couple of flaws.
The fragile plain white inner sleeve is the original one from 1966. It has ‘Patents Applied For’ and ‘Made in Great Britain’ on the bottom in small print. Amazingly, it is intact with no rips or tears, I can see the number 130 written in pencil on it, but this could be erased with care. The record rests in a spare inner to preserve the original.
This is in EXCELLENT condition overall. This LP has sold millions but it’s hard to find ones in excellent condition. This is a fine example!
