Description

A UK first mono pressing of The Beatles' 6th Parlophone album "Rubber Soul" released in December 1965 on PMC1267. With the matrix numbers XEX579-1 and XEX580-1 making this the rare 'loud cut' pressing. This was only available for a short time before being replaced by the 'more balanced mix' on matrix numbers ending with -4.

The Ernest J Day flipback sleeve is notorious for the lamination lifting. This one has a few creases to the front but overall is in very good shape. There is some light age colouration to the rear but there is no writing on either the sleeve or the labels of this album. The spine is intact and totally readable.

EMI emitex inner sleeve which is in great condition.

The labels are crisp and clean, with some 'spidering' and and only light spindle wear. No writing on either label. The rights of the manufacturer message starts with "The Gramophone Co Ltd" and there is the "Sold in the UK" statement. Side two is embossed with the MT tax code.

There are a number of light surface marks on the vinyl and the album does not lie 100% flat when playing it. But this record was pressed on the heavy duty vinyl that was used in the 60's.  There are some very feint 'crackles' during the run-ins and the odd one that is discernable during three or four of the tracks but you really do have to strain your ears to hear them. Definitely no sticking or jumping of the stylus or noticable distortion from the very slight 'wave'. It might not be 'near mint' but it is a very good example of, what is for me, one of the best Beatles' recordings. Even if the studio was not happy with the released mix ! The stamper on side one is '1' TT . A must for the completist collector.

I would ask those of you who have not bought from me to kindly check out my feedback from previous buyers.
