Description
THE BEATLES - 'REVOLVER'
Quality control of Beatles and indeed all of EMI product in the 1960's was extremely tight, making it virtually impossible for any error to escape the factory unnoticed. Mis-matched/incorrect labels are fairly common but cover errors are much rarer and in many cases unique
This is a UK 2nd MONO pressing dating from late 1966 on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 7009
Both labels include the 'Sold in UK....' text and have 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd...' rim texts
The 'KT' purchase tax code is present in the centre of the side 2 label.
Matrix numbers: XEX 605-2 & XEX 606-2
Stamper codes: 6/RPG & 7/RAO
Vinyl weight: 153
Housed in misprinted front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover
Uniquely, the front panel 'mono' indicator is misplaced to such a degree that it appears on the upper rear flipback
This copy also comes complete with its original 'Patents Applied For' inner-sleeve

Labels: EXCELLENT
A clean & unblemished pair with some of light spindle trails around each centre hole.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Extremely clean playing surfaces which retain all of their 'as new' deep-gloss shine with no noticeable marks or wear visible in strong daylight. Closer inspection directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp reveals just some harmless wispy paper hairlines consistent with inner-sleeve removal and a sparkling rainbow shine.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT
This well looked-after copy has received only careful play on good equipment and is without any significant deterioration to the sound quality or any major faults. My playcheck detected the usual light low-level background on 'Eleanor Rigby' & 'Here, There and Everywhere', but no other noticeable distractions on this respectable sounding copy.
Cover: EXCELLENT +
This rare and possible unique example is clean & unworn, having always been carefully stored a non-smoking environment. The striking front panel is clean, white and totally unscratched with no thumbnails or even a single spine bend. All corners are in fine unworn shape as are both opening edges. The exposed rear panel is clean & black where it should be with no ring/storage wear and certainly no writing or missing paper.
Both seams are smooth & unstressed and the spine is clean & fully worded.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
Clean & flat with slight age-toning but no writing, seam splits or tears.
