The Beatles Revolver UK LP 1st press from 1st Mother

If you're reading this, you probably already know what this is.  I've been collecting records for 20 years, but never got into the Beatles stuff.  A friend of mine showed me these and asked if I could ebay them for him, so here you go.

He was living in the UK in the 70s and 80s, in separate towns from where his girlfriend was living.  She would regularly mail him rare records, thinking they would be worth something someday.  He had little interest, and into storage they went.  He and the girl seperated, and he married.  His current wife isn't thrilled his ex's name is written on the back of each record, so she would rather they not be in the house anymore.  So.......here they are.  Starting at $1.  No reserve.  You tell me what these are worth today.......as they say with antiques and things, they ain't makin any more of em!

Here's the info I was able to find on this album.

***The first pressings of the mono Revolver were only manufactured during part of the first day of pressing. George Martin stopped the presses and replaced the mono mix of "Tomorrow Never Knows" with a more suitable mix. Side Two matrices of the original issue end in "-1". The more common pressing ends in "-2" or a later number.

--my copy has the 606-1 matrix stamp at the 6 o'clock position on side 2, and the ablum contains this pulled version of "Tomorrow Never Comes" that Martin was not happy with.

***Early copies of Revolver list the song "Doctor Robert" as "Dr. Robert." These copies sell for as much as double what a normal copy brings.

--my copy has the song listed as Dr. Robert.

Now, from the eBay collectors guide, as reccomended rare Beatles records to add to your collection:

***Any copy of the Beatles' first four UK releases with "The Parlophone Co. LTD..." printed along the label rim. Later pressings (starting in 1965) were changed to "The Gramophone Co. LTD...". Copies of the first four LPs with "The Parlophone Co. LTD..." are worth more than copies with the "Gramophone Co. LTD..." text

--Yes sir, mine has the "The Parlophone Co. LTD..."   

***Any UK release that has a "1" etched in the dead wax at the 9 o'clock postion and a single alpha character at the 3 o'clock. The "1" indicates the record was pressed from the very first mother and the 3 o'clock represents the stamper number. Single characters at 3 o'clock indicate very early stampers. If the only letter at 3 o'clock is "G", and the mother at 9 o'clock is "1" you have yourself one of the first 300-500 pressings ever made of that record. That's a keeper my friends. --Yes sir again, #1 at the 9 o'clock, pressed from the first mother.  There is NO finer sounding copy of this record, unless you found another with a lower stamp in this good of condition.  Best of luck, I haven't been able to find record of one being sold.  Also, at 3 0'clock is G0, indicating one of the first 500-750 made.

--I just found these two sites selling similar records.  One is the Doctor Robert label, but not the 606-1 matrix stamp with the different version of "Tomorrow Never Comes".  Price $636.62  Here is the Doctor copy.
