Description
The Beatles 1965 Album "Rubber Soul" - Original Mono album PMC 1267 bought by me in Leicester, where I grew up, shortly after release and it has been in my possession ever since. It is in it's original Emitex sleeve. I think this is the loud-cut version that people describe in adverts on ebay.
On the run-out, the Disc numbers are - Side 1 - XEX 579-1 and on Side 2 - XEX580-1.
The mother numbers/letters are: Side 1 - 1 OD and Side 2 - 3 and HA.
As to the condition. The LP plays through perfectly with no sticks or jumps. It is a great LP music-wise, (on a cultural note, the song "The Word" seems to have been a pre-cursor of the "Summer of Love" and psychedelia). In it's time I played it a lot so it says a lot about quality manufacturing in the UK at the time that both disc and sleeves have lasted so well. It is therefore well used with a few scuffs and a couple of light scratches and "spider marks" are evident on the labels where the disc has been located onto the turntable pin. I would assure you though that this LP plays really well and though there will be slight static heard between tracks at times, the loudness of the cut on this disc means that any slight statics or blemishes are masked by the sheer volume of the music. It is an excellent listening experience - I have listened through headphones this morning (18/8/2013) and the only place where I noticed significant static crackle was in the final track, Michelle, on Side 1. This is a quiet track but other quiet tracks are fine.
The cover is in good shape, the front laminate being completely intact with a few light creases round the edges. there is a bit of feathering at top and bottom of the opening where the disc has been removed and replaced and a small area of whitening along the top of the cover. The back is pretty clean, though not quite as bright white as when new. The spine is complete with no cracks though a little compressed from 48 years of standing in the record rack. The 3 flip-overs are in great shape with just one or two minor creases - the laminate being intact and firm on all three flip-overs. It is a Garrard and Lofthouse sleeve with the references - 12 LL.
The Emitex sleeve is clean and has no splits though after all these years the disc has, as is usual, created a ring in this inner sleeve.
I have not used record collector gradings because I myself am not really a collector or a dealer. I just bought lots of discs over the years from the late 1950s into the 1980s. I sold a lot of the more valuable ones on ebay some years ago but kept a number of favourites, including this one. Now downsizing means that all the LPs and 45s and the old HiFi need to go, so here's the chance for new Beatles fans to get a genuine vintage disc in good condition and a fabulous set of songs to boot!
