Description

I have a UK Copy of:

The Beatles - Rubber Soul

Yellow and Black parlaphone PMC 1267 (Mono)

matrix side A: YEX  579-4  Mother ?  stamper RML (no mother Number on side 1)

matrix B side: YEX 580-4  mother 412  Stamper RTA.

This is the officially first issue of Rubber Soul in Mono.

The Loud cut with the 1 at the end of the matrix was withdrawn very quickly and this issue with the 4 at the end on the matrix replaced it as the first issue, the label details and vinyl weight are the same as the so called "Loud Cut" withdrawn version, the only diffrence is this version is slightly remixed to sound better and reissued with the 4 on the end of the matrix instead of  a 1. there is no Mother Number on side 1 which is a strange in itself.

I am please to offer this Most Excellent copy of Rubber Soul for Auction it is by far the best condition copy I have come across.

please note that I do not grade high quality records as an overall condition I grade each part on offer seperately

I play test all my records on a high quality hifi, my record deck is a Linn Axis fitted with a Linn Basik arm and an Ortofon 520 Mk 2 cartridge

I listen to the quality through a set of ROGERS LS7's a very neutral sounding speaker which will bring out an inperfections in the sound quality, they are Bi wired for increased clarity

Condition of how the record Looks EX

when viewed under a bright light a few very light marks (scuffs) are evident on both sides, when viewed normally the record both sides is is stunning clean and mark free condition.

Condition of how the Record Plays EX+

I hesitate to use the term "Near Mint" but all i can say is "flawless playback" on each and every track on both sides, eaqual in quality to any "Near Mint" vinyl that i have ever bought and played myself.

the sound quality has not diminished at all since this record was first made 44 years ago, I have owned this copy for a couple of years and have played it only  three times, the person i bought it from had stored it for many years and it really shows that this has been a very well looked after copy.

Condition of the Labels EX

The labels are in excellent clean condition showing only a hint of wear around the spindle hole

Condition of the origonal Emitex tracing paper inner sleeve: EX

The  origonal Emitex inner skleeve is included and is in excellent origonal condition

Condition of the Flipback garrod & Lofthouse Sleeve: VG++

the Sleeve is in really great condition but does show some light wear in places, a few very small marks on the front cover and a couple of areas of light staining on the back cover and some light handling marks on the unlaminated back of the cover. saying all that it shows none of the usual age related damage that you would expect to see on this kind of sleeve it has no laquer cracking and the spine is perfect and strong and readable the cover is in very clean strong relativly undamaged condition for its age, it shows no writing, sellotape of sticker damage at all.

I Use the Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide:

Please note I will use + and – to denote grades in-between the ones mentioned below.

"MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
