Description
For sale is a copy of The Beatles sixth studio album, Rubber Soul.
This is an original STEREO UK 2nd Pressing produced in 1965 which features the sought after black and yellow Parlophone labels.
In 1965 most records sold were MONO and therefore STEREO copies are much, much rarer.
Many vinyl records are mis-sold on eBay. There are several details which identify this copy as a true 2nd pressing. They are:
· Front side laminated Garrod & Lofthouse flip back sleeve
· ‘Stereo PCS 3075’ printed on the rear of the sleeve.
· Black labels with yellow Parlophone logo and silver writing.
· Small ‘STEREO’ printed above ‘Parlophone’ on the labels.
· Matrix numbers YEX 178-3 (side 1) and YEX 179-3 (side 2).
This copy has mother stampers: 2 GG (side 1) & 2 G0 (Side 2) suggesting it was produced and sold early in the production run.
I try to take pictures which provide a fair representation of the condition of a record and the sleeve. If interested, please read below for a more detailed discussion to include an audio description.
I use the Goldmine standard as a reference for grading.
Vinyl: Very Good
The record is in great visual condition.
Both sides of the vinyl surface retain the original gloss sheen.
The labels are bright and clean with little spindle wear.
Both sides of the vinyl have several surface marks.
The audio on both sides is Very Good + to Excellent on the most part and is therefore very enjoyable to listen to.
There are a couple of tracks on both sides with a few audible pops but which do not distract from the music.
There is great channel separation, clear vocals and punchy basslines.
Sleeve: Very Good +
The front laminated sleeve looks great.
The colours on the front of the sleeve are very bright with minimal discolouration.
The rear is remarkably clean with virtually no staining – demonstrating that the record has been carefully looked after.
The corners are strong, and the spine and edges are distinct.
This is a great sleeve.
Inner Sleeve: Very Good +
The original Emitex die cut inner sleeve is in great condition.
It is still very white overall with just subtle signs of discolouration.
Otherwise, it shows minimal creasing and no seam splits or tears.
Also included in the sale is an audiophile quality inner sleeve which provides the best possible protection for the record.
This is a superb example of an increasingly rare and sough- after record. This is a great opportunity to add a fantastic copy to your collection!
The album is housed within a premium quality polythene outer sleeve. The vinyl is separate to the sleeve.
The album will be sent within a padded vinyl record mailer.
