Description

The Beatles: Sergeant Pepper: Mono UK First Press Wide Spine VG+/VG+
The Copy
I have for sale a very well preserved copy of Sergeant Pepper in Mono with the wide spine sleeve. The condition really is good for an LP which, recently celebrated its 54th birthday . The matrix run outs read:
Side 1: XEX 637-1 Stampers GO 2 Side 2: XEX 638-1 Stampers RA 3
The wide spine, KT tax code on the Side 1 label, the extra full stop after "Sold In" on the Side A label and matrices indicate that this is a first press from May 1967 .  Despite extensive research, I have not been able to find the Stamper Codes for this copy listed.  The sleeve does not have the "Fourth Proof" credit printed on the inner flipback.  Despite these apparent anomalies I am still of the view that is is the genuine article.

The Vinyl
Both sides retain their original sheen and have minimal surface paper scuffing. There are no scratches, skips, jumps or sticks. The record is completely flat. Play tested on my Sansui XP-99 with a Goldring Elan cartridge the music is clear with some surface noise between tracks and on the run ins. It really is a lovely listen. I grade it as a VG+
The Labels
The labels are in very good condition with very little apparent spindle wear and no discernible marks. They are both clearly legible.
The Outer Sleeve
The Garrod & Lofthouse outer sleeve is in very good condition for an album of this age.  The wide spine is evident by its width (hence the description) and the very slight encroachment of the front and rear pictures over its edges.  There is no wear to the edges or spine which is fully legible. There are corner dinks on the spine corners. The front and rear as as bright as the day they were printed and there is no apparent ring wear. There are a number of barely discernible creases but overall the sleeve is super crisp. I grade it as VG+ I hope the pictures show the detail well enough but please contact me for more detailed shots if you wish.
The Inner Sleeve
The original “fools” inner sleeve is missing. The cut outs however, are present and in very good condition. The record will be supplied with a brand new poly lined paper inner sleeve.
Pricing
I look at a variety of sources to try to work out what the market value of each record I sell is and set the starting bid accordingly. I use the Goldmine grading system and try to be fair with each grading and description so you get exactly what you see on the tin. I know it’s a subjective business though so tend to grade conservatively so as not to disappoint. You need to remember though that the value of a near mint copy is going to be significantly more than one which, is only VG. I usually offer an auction with a starting price and the opportunity to make an offer. Please be aware that the Starting Price is the minimum I will accept so if you make an offer that’s less it will be rejected.
My Philosophy
I’m a collector too and operate on the principle that I treat others as I would wish to be treated myself; hence the comprehensive description and an offer to provide further photos, videos or answers to any questions you may have. Just drop me a message. Also, please have a look at my recent feedback and you’ll see that I am a genuine safe seller.

Combined Postage and Shipping Info

I will message you a picture of the package when it is ready for dispatch. If the service allows, I will then provide you with the tracking number both via a message and on the listing. Most of my auctions end on a Sunday evening. I aim to ship first thing on a Monday morning. If this timetable slips then I will contact you to advise and offer a refund of the purchase price if you no longer wish to go ahead with the purchase.
Each album will be separated from the outer sleeve and both will be housed in a soft polythene cover. It will be sent in a brand new very high quality Music Max cardboard mailer with stiffeners.
If like me, you are lucky enough to live in Leicester, I will hand deliver for free. Hand delivery in the East Midlands can also be arranged for the cost of fuel. If you wish either of these then please contact me before payment.
