Hello everyone,
Over the few weeks I'm listing several Beatles' albums. This LP is described below :-
Sergeant Pepper Parlophone PCS 7027 This is the 1st Stereo pressing - YEX 637/8 Sold in the UK.
Under a good light one sees several light lines and light, faint scuffs throughout, all non sounding. They are typical of sleeve removal marks. There is just one, as I would describe, scratch: about an inch long and for the first 15 seconds of the intro to ' Within You Without You ' one click per revolution is heard.
The record plays beautifully,. loud and clear and without any sound of distortion. I can hear a touch of very light background crackle but only on the dead wax - the run in and out.
The disc is dead flat and it has an inner sleeve in excellent condition. This inner sleeve was standard issue for the early Beatles' albums but early ' Pepper ' pressings were issued with a red/white sleeve which, sadly, has gone walkabout. The outer sleeve is in lovely condition with a touch of wear on three corners and some shelf wear on the spine. The title on the spine is clear and is read easily. Those faults noticed, the sleeve is unmarked.
The matrix number, seen in photo no 12, has a silvery background. It is black, of course, but I highlighted the numbers with an angled flash to make them more readable.
The cut-out insert is in tact and is in mint condition. I attempt to describe the condition, warts and all, so as not to disappoint a buyer and I offer a full refund if that is the case but I'm sure this record will not prove to be so.
This is a lovely iconic album and, in stereo, sounds fabulous even if listened to without the help of magic mushrooms which we're told were in integral part of the genius behind this LP.
Please cast a glance over my other Beatles' listings from time to time as and when I find the spare time to sort the albums. The record will be bubble wrapped and dispatched in a purpose made cardboard record mailer.
