Description

   The Beatles
Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band

Excellent First Press
Yellow & Black Parlophone Label

Rare Stereo

Complete With Original Dye Cut Inner & Cardboard Cut Out Inserts

This is a lovely copy, with its vinyl Excellent Plus condition, of a First Press, Stereo Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band LP, which I have owned from new in 1967!

It has the First Press "THE GRAMOPHONE CO. LTD." Around the record rim and "SOLD IN THE UK SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LIST" across the label.

Stereo was actually much rarer than Mono, as most people bought Mono as a matter of course in 1967, so Stereo was mostly to order and this was one that I ordered from my local record shop in Banbury, having already bought the Mono version.

The fully laminated, Peter Blake designed Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold sleeve is in Excellent, undamaged condition, with very little sign of wear and no dmage or splitting of the spine and no creasing. Just little corner marks and gentle storage wear.

This has the plain white EMI inner central dye-cut sleeve, which was, again, quite normal with Stereo and actually, even though I had a, so called, 'Fools Inner' with my Mono version, these often came with plain white, too!

Its first Press Matrices, with the -1 are Side One XEX 637-1 with Mother '1' and Stamper 'GMA', being '143'.

Side Two XEX 638-1, with Mother '1' and Stamper 'GMD', being '140'. These are actually interesting as the Mothers are the First and the Stampers are very close in number, which is highly unusual.

The vinyl is heavy EMI 60s and is in superb, condition, with just odd surface hair-lines or paper rubs, with nice neat spindles, with no wear. I would really put this as Excellent Plus, vinyl. Really lovely, original and plays without background noise!

It has no Tax Code on the spindle, placing this bang on 1967.

It comes with the original central dye-cut white inner sleeve and complete with the card-board cut out inserts.

All in all a nice, original copy of this iconic record, complete and in fantastic condition, with one careful owner! Sadly I sold my Mono copy and now this, too, must go, both bought at the same time.

Sales and postage in ad to the UK only and please bear in mind that the price quoted may increase, if the item sells above £50, as it must then be sent Royal Mail Guaranteed Next Day Delivery, due to insurance, so please wait for me to invoicde you.

Thanks.
