-
“SGT. PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND” LP by the Beatles
-
This LP is Capitol Records MAS - 2653.
-
This LP was issued June 1, 1967.
-
This is a MONAURAL (MONO) PRESSING.
-
In fact, this is a FIRST MONO PRESSING OF THIS LP. We know this because:
1) “Subsidiary” is not in the label’s perimeter printing.
2) The Side 1 label has the shortened song title “A Little Help From My Friends”. (The second Mono pressing has the correct title “With a Little Help From My Friends”.)
3) First Pressing Covers do NOT credit Maclen Music or NEMS Enterprises. (Later covers added this information to the lower right corner on the rear of the cover in vertical print.)
-
The vinyl comes in its properly marked MAS – 2653 MONO COVER.
-
There is no symbol in the trail-off wax to identify Capitol Records’ pressing plant; but where there is no symbol, this indicates that the vinyl was pressed at Capitol’s Scranton Pressing Plant.
-
The COVER is in VG CONDITION. There is moderate overall wear (Not light, Not heavy, it’s moderate = in the middle). The front and rear covers have moderate overall wear. There is a small 1-inch split (repaired) on the top rear seam and intermittent flaking on the bottom rear seam with a small bit of paper loss. Two corners have moderate wear and two corners have some heavier wear with slight “feathering”. The image inside the gate-fold cover is nice and clean. (Please check out the images.)
-
The VINYL is in WEAK VG to VG- (VG Minus) CONDITION with numerous light surface hairlines (but none of them “feel-able”).
-
This LP comes with its ORIGINAL CUSTOM RED, PINK and WHITE PAPER INNER SLEEVE that is quite flat. It has a 5 -inch split in the middle of the bottom edge.
-
It also comes with its ORIGINAL POSTER-BOARD INSERT OF CUT-OUTS on thin paper and has moderate signs of handling/creasing, some aging of the white reverse and the name “CARY’S” written lightly in blue ballpoint on the reverse.
The MONO PRESSINGS of this Beatles’ LP title, especially FIRST PRESSINGS, have become VERY DESIRABLE and SOMEWHAT HARDER-TO-FIND.
A FIRST MONO PRESSING OF THIS BEATLES’ LANDMARK LP complete with original inner sleeve and “cut-outs” insert to add to your vinyl collection.
