Description
Sgt Pepper a 1st pressing from 1967 on UK Parlophone. Matrix -1/-1. Stampers 1-ADA/3-RHO. The LP comes housed in a FOURTH PROOF Garrod & Lofthouse Mono cover. These fourth proof covers represent the final pre-production run before full scale production commenced. Sorry, there's NO flame inner or cut-outs.
Vinyl (Vg/Vg+) Has survived 50 years in very decent condition. I would say that this LP has seen moderate use. Under close inspection there are several light marks on either side - but nothing troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, VERY GOOD level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are reasonably quiet and the audio comes across with good clarity. Interference is light and only occasionally noticeable on side 1. Side 2 has seen less use and interference is actually pretty minimal. Both sides still playback to a very enjoyable level and will more than satisfy most folk, but perhaps not those that are into their extreme hifi. The 50th anniversary is upon us and this copy still represents the DEFINITIVE original version of this LP. [Please note both labels seem to have a coloured sticker on them]
Cover (Vg) A nice and shiny front and rear. There are a few creases in places, but nothing really that stands out. The interior is in pretty decent condition, but please note there is the indentation of a name near the fourth proof details. Overall the cover still retains good rigidity. The spine is well worn - not worn through, but much of the text is no longer visible now.
