THE BEATLES - 'SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND'
This rare variant pressing dates from 1968 on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 7027
The variation occurs on the side 2 label which OMITS the 'A Day In the Life' title.
The side 1 label also has an extra dot between the words 'sold' and 'in' in the 'Sold in UK...' text.
Matrices: XEX 637-1 & XEX 638-1
Stamper codes: 6/MMO & 7/MAT
Vinyl weight: 156g
Housed in a fully laminated, Garrod & Lofthouse' printed gatefold mono cover.
Complete with original red & white printed inner-sleeve & unused cut-out sheet.
CONDITION
Labels: EXCELLENT +
A clean & bright set showing a small number of light spindle trails around each unworn centre hole.
Visual: VERY GOOD +
Both playing surfaces retain an excellent deep shine. Strong daylight shows up several light surface marks and hairlines, non of which are deep or 'feelable'. Closer inspection directly beneath halogen light reveals some harmless light marks consistent with inner-sleeve storage & removal.
Audio: EXCELLENT
Carefully played good equipment only, all tracks play cleanly & clearly with no trace of any groove/playwear distortion or interference. Even the easily damaged 'She's Leaving Home' plays without break-up or wear. Our play-check detected just a single tick in the animal noises at the end of 'Good Morning, Good Morning', but no further distractions elsewhere.
Cover: EXCELLENT
A clean, glossy and strong example with an unworn front panel which bears three 'thumbnail' wrinkles and a small bend towards the lower right corner. There is some shelfwear bruising to the lower corners themselves but the upper two and all opening edges are undamaged. Both panels inside the gatefold are pristine, as is the rear panel. The spine is fully worded with just a little delamination and all seams are smooth & unstressed.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
Light storage wrinkling but no writing, tears or seam splits.
