In this auction:

• “SOMETHING NEW” LP by the Beatles

• This LP is Capitol Records ST - 2108.

• This is a STEREO PRESSING.

• This LP title was originally issued July 20, 1964 on the Capitol Records label.

• With the creation of the Beatles’ Apple Records label, their catalog of LPs issued on the Capitol Records label was reissued on the Apple Records label but in Capitol-marked covers.

• This LP was issued 1971 – 1975. We know this because “Mfd. by Apple Records Inc.” is in the perimeter print on the uncut Apple label. Furthermore, there is a Montgomery Ward store sticker on the front shrink wrap with a printed date of “JAN 74” on it.

• We also know that this is a pre-1976 cover, because it is made of cardboard with slicks pasted on. Covers issued after 1975 were constructed of posterboard, not cardboard.

• This vinyl was pressed at Capitol’s Winchester plant based on the unique symbol for that pressing plant etched in the trail-off.

• The cover has the number “12” printed at the lower right corner of the rear cover which indicates that this cover is also from Capitol’s Winchester Pressing Plant (where Apple LPs were issued from 1971 to 1975 and orange-label Capitol pressings were issued in 1976.) THEREFORE, this VINYL and the COVER are CORRECTLY PAIRED with both issued from CAPITOL’s WINCHESTER PLANT. 

• NOTE: Some sellers may intentionally or accidentally switch vinyl and covers in order to create an LP with a higher grade cover and vinyl, but NOT correctly matched to the same pressing plant. I don’t do that. This is the correct cover and vinyl for this pressing/issue.

• The COVER is graded NEAR MINT MINUS and still in its ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP. (Only some very light aging of the white reverse cover near the opening keeps me from grading the cover Near Mint.) There is a Montgomery Ward store sticker on the front shrink wrap.

• This primarily black cover is a really tough cover to find without wear. It was prone to show wear very easily and is often found with such wear. However, this one has been well-protected by the shrink wrap over the past 45+ years!

• The VINYL is GRADED NEAR MINT.

It’s a VERY NICE COPY of this BEATLES APPLE LP title, for sure!
