Description
I am selling many nice BEATLES LPs (duplicates) from my collection. So, please check my other auctions. It was almost 50 years ago today that this LP was issued!!
IN THIS AUCTION:
· “THE BEATLES’ STORY” by the Beatles
· This LP is Capitol Records TBO 2222.
· This LP contains 2 STEREO RECORDS.
· The Capitol labels do not have the “subsidiary” rim printing which confirms this to be a FIRST MONO (Monaural) PRESSING OF THIS LP.
· This is a RARE MONO PRESSING of this LP because IT WAS MANUFACTURED BY RCA RECORDS.
· Capitol Records, in order to keep up with the demand for Beatles’ LPs, contracted with other U.S. record companies like Decca and RCA to also press Beatles’ LPs at their manufacturing plants. The LP in this auction is one of those “contract pressings”.
· There are 2 CHARACTERISTICS that identify and confirm this LP to be an RCA CONTRACT PRESSING:
1. Side 1 is backed with Side 2 and Side 3 is backed with Side 4. (The Capitol and Decca pressings have Side 1 backed with Side 4 and Side 2 is backed with side 3.)
2. There is a deep grove and outer ridge on the label that circles the LP title and song titles. (The Capitol and Decca pressings of this LP do not have this.)
· This RCA Pressing is the RAREST and MOST VALUABLE PRESSING OF THIS LP according to Perry Cox’s Price Guide for the Beatles American Records.
· This LP was issued November 23, 1964.
· The COVER is a Capitol-marked cover and the cover construction (front cover slicks overlapping the inside cover slicks) is the correct cover to go with this 1964 pressing.
· The COVER is graded Very Strong VG to VG+ Condition. There is light overall wear and slight and small corner pushes on all corners. It’s nice inside the gatefold cover with very little ink transfer to the white area on the left which often occurs due to rubbing. There are 2 small (1-inch) nicely repaired seam splits on the top seams near the opening.
· The VINYL is graded Strong VG to Weak VG+ Condition depending on the side. There are some light surface hairlines/scuffs on all 4 sides. There is lots of gloss present. The labels show a few spindle trails mostly on the Side 3 and Side 4 labels.
Two blue Capitol paper inner sleeves are also included. These are the CORRECT SLEEVES for this pressing. One sleeve has a couple of small splits (bottom and side) and writing on one side. The other sleeve has NO splits , but does have a small tear near the top opening.
· A nice RARE RCA PRESSING of this ORIGINAL 1964 DOUBLE VINYL MONO BEATLES LP to add to your vinyl collection!
Thanks to Perry Cox’s Price Guide for the Beatles American Records for information about this LP.
