Description
In this auction:
-
“INTRODUCING THE BEATLES” LP by The Beatles
-
This is Vee Jay Records VJLP 1062.
-
It was released beginning February, 1964.
-
This is a MONO (monaural) PRESSING.
-
This is Version 2 of this LP with column back cover that includes the cuts “Ask Me Why” and “Please Please Me” which replaced “Love Me Do” and “P.S. I Love You” which are on Version 1 of this LP.
-
The LP in this auction has the RARE VEE JAY COVER THAT DOES NOT HAVE A COMMA PRINTED IN THE SONG TITLE “PLEASE, PLEASE ME” AT THE TOP OF THE SECOND COLUMN ON THE REAR COVER.
-
According to the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records, 6th Ed. by Perry Cox & Frank Daniels (and I quote):
“The cover without the comma is rarer
and it increases the value of the cover”
-
Also, according to the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records, 6th Ed the VJ record that was issued in this “No Comma” cover should have Oval Vee Jay logos on black labels with color band. The vinyl in this auction does have Vee Jay Labels with Oval Logos.
-
BOTH COVER and VINYL are ABSOLUTELY AUTHENTIC! So you can bid with confidence that you are receiving the real deal and not a counterfeit.
-
The COVER is in VG to VG- (VG MINUS) CONDITION. There is an inch of flaking at the top of the spine resulting in a bald corner there. There are also bald corners at the bottom of the spine and at the top right corner at the opening. There is moderate overall cover wear mostly noticeable at the center and lower center areas of the front cover and light partial ring wear. There is a light partial 2-inch crease near the top right corner on the front cover and three small 1-inch light creases near the spine on the rear cover. There has been a repair on the lower right corner (which is the primary reason I added the VG- grade). There is some light wear on the bottom edge/seam, but there are NO SEAM SPLITS. There is also NO WRITING on the cover. There is some aging/foxing and light age-spotting on the rear cover and an original price sticker at the top right corner. (This sounds like a lot of faults/defects, but maybe I got too “anal” in the description. Check out the images and you’ll see that it is still a nice-looking cover.)
-
The VINYL is in VG CONDITION. There are a number of very light surface hairlines/scuffs, but none are “feelable”. The vinyl has LOTS of GLOSS. A name is written 2 times in ballpoint on the colorband on the Side 2 label. There is practically no wear around the spindle hole, something that you often see on the labels of “Introducing the Beatles” Vee Jay LPs.
-
This is definitely a Hard-to-Find “Introducing the Beatles” Cover.
A RARE VEE JAY COVER with the CORRECT VEE JAY RECORD/LABEL for your vinyl collection!
Thanks to the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records, 6th Edition by Perry Cox and Frank Daniels for information about this LP.
