Description
The Beatles White Album France SMO BIEM Top Loader is a first pressing issue. All -1 matrix but as it’s French it states -21 the 2 is the France location number only.
It is mastered differently from the UK version. Has more bass, and more so than the German first issue. Less mid tones and to my ears, feels like a S curve has been added to the master. Sounds more modern with a bit more top end.
Has a “P” in the dead wax, either meaning Pepe who mastered it or Pathe.
This is a first issue and not to be confused with the later French pressing PCS 7067-8 which is a reissue. This copy came out well before the oil crisis, 1968 and is not affected by the vinyl recycling that occurred in the 70’s
Sound is great, no issues on my liner tracking set up. Looks great too. The cover very nice is in a make shift cover, not sure if it can be removed. I’ve just left it as it’s protecting the cover well. The cover is German which is what the French White Albums were released in. Photos are complete and in very good condition. A slight bend on the corners on a couple but nothing bad.
The lyric sheet, poster again in very good condition but does have plasticine on the 4 corners. Someone had it on the wall. Some small mottling also but doesn’t detract. Comes with the original inners, good condition has a slight rip in the bottom where the records weight has gone through and some folding. I have tried to show all this on the photos.
I have included two new black inners and also I I have placed inside the orginal inners polyethylene sleeves.
A great record and sound very different to the UK pressing. Will add to your collection. Overall a stunning LP.
Reason for sale, I just need to cut down on my collection so a few will be going on sale.
