Description
Your chance to own a rare piece of musical, vinyl and cultural history ... a BEAUTIFUL UK first press White Album, in stereo, compete and with all its original components.
It's a top loader, in a numbered cover, double album on the Apple label, with black inner sleeves, four photos and the poster.
It's numbered 300,076, so quite low for a stereo copy (which started at around the 280,000 mark).
And it's in lovely all-round condition.
I've collected Beatles records for more than 20 years and this is one of the nicest White Albums I've ever seen.
On top of the photos provided, here is a description of the contents... I've tried to be as detailed - and honest - as possible so you know exactly what you're getting:
The sleeve is very good, overall, still strong, clear and very sturdy. It does have some natural (but not unpleasant) age related yellowing throughout (again, very common for a near sixty year old album!) and what looks like some fairly subtle storage marks to the bottom of the cover (pictured). This is most pronounced on the front but is also evident to a lesser degree on the inside and the rear.
The labels are lovely ... bold, clear and strong - no writing or marks on them. Side three does have a little spindle wear (pictured).
The vinyl - across all four discs - is superb. Lovely, shiny and clear. Just a slight inch-long hairline I can detect on side one, in the strong light. All discs are the first pressing -1 matrix. The stampers are: Side one - 4/ TG Side two - 1/ GMR Side three - 6/ PL(?) Side four - 6/ GDT
I played the album through and it plays well, no skips or jumps detected on my machine.
The fragile black inners are original and, again, very good for their age. No rips or tears. Rare for these delicate items.
The four stills are lovely, no writing, blu-tac, tears etc. Just a trace of minimal wear to one or two of the far corners. Excellent for their age.
The poster is very good, again no rips. It does have a small amount of age-related creasing and slight wear here and there, which is expected and very normal for these. Again, it holds up very well. This is an album - and set - which has been very well looked after over the years. RARE as these albums were often played to death(!) and their contents stuck on walls etc.
In summary this is a wonderful example of a classic, legendary and highly sought after album. It does have one or two minor flaws - (slight marks to the sleeve, spindle wear to one spindle hole) when held up against the very highest of scrutiny - but it's certainly very nice all round and a worthy collection piece - definitely a keeper, not an upgrader!! It's certainly of a higher standard than most White Albums out there.
I will send it safely packed up - and with the records separate to their delicate inner sleeves.
Thank you very much for looking. If you have any further questions please ask.
Low start price and no reserve!
Please note that the postage quoted (Royal Mail special delivery - I make no money on the postage. It's just to get it to you nice and safe) applies to the UK only. Anywhere else and that would obviously be subject to change.
