Description

This is an genuinely rare Beatles album that was released in Australia in 1964. Released on the Parlophone label this is the mono pressing, catalogue no PMCO 1206, made and distributed by EMI Australia LTD, in Sydney, New South Wales. As you can see from the photos, this album was manufactured with the Black & Gold Parlophone lettering labels. The inner groove matrix numbers are XEX 447-1N (for side 1) and XEX 448-1N (for side 2) PLEASE NOTE- THIS RECORD DOES NOT PLAY CORRECTLY due to a warp with the vinyl, it skips, so I am selling this as more of a reference copy. Having said that, most people would be looking to purchase such an album so that they can have it in their collection, rather than to play, but it is because of this fault that I have set it at a relatively low starting price for such a rare record. Apart from the warp the record itself is in not too bad a condition given it's age. Yes there are some scratch marks visible, one long one stretching across most of side 1 although not deep, but these are mostly quite light and not too many in number. The labels on both sides, are also in generally good condition with just some marks showing more around the centre hole where it has been caught on the main post of the record player, when somebody has placed the record down to play it. The album sleeve again given it's age is in not too bad a condition. What must be bared in mind is that unlike UK albums that were released in a thick card sleeve, these Australian albums were released in more of a thick, laminated paper sleeve so this is obviously a lot more flimsy. On the front cover there is a circular indent visible where the album has been stored in the sleeve and obviously given the thinness of the sleeve and it's age, there are some creases evident and general wear & tear showing, more so down the side where you place the album into the sleeve. There are however no marks or creases where the 4 faces of the Beatles are printed. and is in clean condition. The rear of the sleeve, again given that it is 54 years old, has gone a little discoloured and showing it's age but all in all, this still is an attractive sleeve, and album, to hold. As I have mentioned though, because of the warp in the vinyl, I have listed this with a relatively low starting price but this is still a very desirable album to have and is a way of getting this album into a collection, far cheaper than what you would normally have to pay.
