What we have here is an original record album of The Beatles: Yesterday And Today, in a third state with the infamous "butcher cover." As you may know, after the release of the album in 1966, this controversial image was covered over by a less gruesome one of the famous four standing by a suitcase. Like many others, this copy is one that originally had the paste-over but was poorly peeled off. As a teenager, this album cover got a little ripped apart in an effort to reveal the hidden butcher image. Barely any of the remaining paste-overs in existence today are in "excellent" condition, and almost all are in this state or worse.
As you can see, this one has white tear marks on the front. One spans from the top right corner to the center, taking out George Harrison, part of the title, and part of Paul's head. Likewise on the left side, it cuts some of John Lennon out. Here and there, there are smaller areas like this on the front.
The seams of the cover look good, excluding the left which has some fraying. It still holds everything together fine. The back is in better shape, with only yellowing from age and a couple very slight creases.
The album itself is in good shape. It looks pristine albeit a few barely-visible scratches. I noticed however there is a name written on the center label in pen, but it is hard to see and does not affect the sound quality. It comes with it's original paper sleeve.
I have just tested the record and it plays fine. It sounded a little fuzzy, but this is probably because I had to use a very poor turntable and no speakers. Judging by the condition of the record, I'm sure it would sound a lot better on a good system.
