Description
Hello! This is a listing for a copy of Yesterday and Today by The Beatles on Capitol, catalogue number T-2553. This is notably a “Second State” Butcher Cover, meaning that the infamous offending butcher image is under the trunk slick. The presence of this original cover has been confirmed via the visibility of Ringo’s neckline through the slick and from a spot where the trunk slick is coming up and the edge of the original cover image can be seen. There is masking tape on the edges of this cover, but that appears to have been done mostly as a preventative measure. I put a light behind it and saw only some mild splitting to the spine and a little bit of splitting at the back of the top seam. The bottom seam looked fully intact. Somebody that knows what they’re doing can probably remove the tape, although there’d likely be some staining underneath. This particular cover is from the Scranton plant- shown by the 3 on the back- which is known as an easier Butcher Cover to peel than the West Coast “6” pressings, so this is probably a good candidate for a professional peel, if you wanted to go that route. (I would suggest getting a professional opinion before acting on that, though.) The original Capitol inner sleeve is present, but it has some mild splitting along the bottom. The record is present and has significant scuffing and scratching to it, but I’ve test played the whole thing, and it plays surprisingly well. There are no skips or sticks to speak of. It should also be noted that the label for Side I was printed off-center, so the rainbow band is uniquely thicker on the top. This is strictly an aesthetic mistake that doesn’t affect play at all, and honestly, it looks pretty cool. Anyways, if you want a Second State and don’t want to pay $1,000, this is a decent option.

I am enrolled in eBay's International Shipping program and do ship outside the States through that, but I don't personally ship directly outside of the United States.
