Description
You are bidding on an original press of The Beatles Yesterday And Today album. THIS IS A POSSIBLE BUTCHER. The album was purchased in the early 60's, new, and it meets all of the criteria for being a Butcher cover, but I am too "chicken" to remove the label to be sure. The album has the following features that give indications that it is a butcher album:
1. There is no "Gold Record Award" seal.
2. The press number is #5.
3. The album has a "slick" type cover.
4, There is a very faint black V to the right of the steamer trunk (Ringo's "V" neck).
5. The cover label is skewed, showing a different or gray color under it.
6. The record is a rainbow color band label.
With all of these indicators, you may ask "Why is there a question about this album being a Butcher?" Well, the album is old and has been in storage. While there, it accumulated a lot of dirt on the cover that somewhat obscures the black "V" unless you look just right (and I am told that it should be "easy" to see), and as I said before, I don't have the guts to remove the cover label. I have described this item to the best of my ability, and again this is a "Possible" Butcher album, not a definite Butcher album which means IF YOU HAVE ANY RESERVATIONS ABOUT MY DESCRIPTIONS, OR IF YOU ARE NOT SURE THE ALBUM IS WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR, PLEASE DO NOT BID ON THIS ITEM.
I do not claim to be a vinyl expert, as I said earlier, these were records (I have several other auctions for Beatles and other "classic" authentic vinyl for sale http://shop.ebay.com/mbh417/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=) of my parents and I am selling them.
Now, for the condition of the record.
The jacket is in fairly good condition, no rips, tears fraying, etc, but does have some dirt built up on it. The record itself does have a some sctratches, but plays well. My mother wrote on the back of the album (in the lower right hand corner, about 1.25" X .5") by putting her name on it.
Again, this is a possible Butcher album, which are really rare, but my price is based on the fact that it "might" be a Butcher. Again, if you are unsure do not bid. On Oct-04-09 at 05:41:46 PDT, seller added the following information:Sorry for the late description update, but I just added a photo showing the width difference of the album (which I am told is another indicator that this might be a Butcher).
The picture shows the "Possible Butcher" laying over the top of another vintage Capital Jacket (Meet The Beatles, that I also have for sale). There is a measureable that can be seen in the picture, but this may also be due to the fact that Yesterday 7 Today was pressed at the #5 location and Meet the Beatles was pressed in the #3 location.
At any rate, the Y&T jacket is shorter.
