I have just received a message from a person who stated that they do not believe that this is a Butcher. After the message my feelings are now %50- %50 on whether it is or not. There are the exact same images in the open trunk lid as a Butcher being sold out here. The wax numbers are close to others out here. I am dropping the price until I find out more information to $350. or best offer. What I do know is that this record was made in and around the mid 1960s. If it is not a Butcher it is still I very early pressing, the cover is in very good condition. It definitely is a pasted slip as glue came off from the edging. The Beatles Yesterday and Today MONO T-2553 Possible Butcher cover underneath !! Etching on Side One Reads: T1 2553-F 1. Side Two Reads: T2-2553-G2. what I have noticed with this copy is that there is something underneath the top third of the inside of the chest lid and also to the right when I slant the album cover almost flat I can see an image outline. Also on the binding side I can see an extended glue line outside of the present one. On the top right corner there is double overlap which you can feel and see. The entire background underneath is darker than white like a light grey. on the inside edge there appears to be a double layer when I look with my loop. Take a look at the pictures and please give your welcomed feedback thank you.I have cleaned the record cover since I have first posted. I still see images behind the picture. Maybe this album didn't age as others have. After cleaning it looks brand new. I think there is the butcher behind there but my copy has been preserved. I may end up removing the top sheet that is glued down, does anyone know how this is done? Thanks
Other information found. This record was manufactured early. I measured this cover to others of the same time period by Capital, all of which were mono and are for sale on my site. I found that this cover is shorter than the others but longer in length. This is a manufactured #3 cover. Also I went further and compared the pasted slip and found that this pasted slip is longer than all the others. I will point out that there is shadow of an image inside of the open part of the trunk lid on the cover that is consistent with the Butcher ones being sold on Ebay. On the right of the case where the V is shown on others, on this one there is less of a reveal which people have stated is due to a better uniformed glue (ing). Other shadows seen on this cover is along the bottom depicting there black pants at the knees.
I am new to this but I am finding it very interesting. Please feel free to send me suggestions that would assist me in clearly identifying this album. I have seen this Butcher cover underneath #3, 5 and 6. I have also noticed that the picture is not aligned exact in all which tells me that different machines were printing the image. If anyone knows wax etching numbers of known Butcher covered albums please let me know, Thank You. I have seen that some were cut shorter but longer ones were not as they were covered with longer pasted slips like the one I am selling here. Also, I noticed that many of the revealed V have been washed ect in order to more clearly identify the V. Does anyone know how I could carefully go about this process? I did do it lightly and ended up with glue coming out of the binder end, I was thinking of possible steam from a little bit away from the album than normal. Please share your ideas. Thank You.
