Up for auction is a rare Beatles related item

Billy Preston - Music Is My Life - LP record album contains 11 songs, mostly written by Billy Preston, with "Blackbird" a Lennon/McCartney song.  ALbum is in excellent condition, gatefold cover is in very good condtion, with  small hole punched in the upper right hand corner.

When I was at the 2004 "Fest For Beatles Fans" convention in Chicago, I brought this album along.  He signed it and then I had my picture taken with him, included with the item in the auction.  The autographed album can be seen laying on the table in front of Billy.  Since he had an "Afro" on the LP cover, I jokingly asked him what happened to all that hair.  He laughed and said "I gave it to Macy Gray".  He was a very pleasant man to visit with and he later played "Get Back" on stage and it sounded great. 

Most Beatles fans know that Billy Preston was not only a friend of the Beatles, but he is the only person to have his name listed on a Beatles record (Get Back - with Billy Preston)  He is sometimes called the 5th Beatle.  He met the Beatles in 1962 when they were, at that time, the "opening act" for Little Richard who Billy toured with.  In 1969 when George Harrison had walked out on the "Let it Be" recording session, he went to a Ray Charles concert in London where Billy Preston was playing organ.  George brought Billy back to the studio where his keen musicianship and gregarious personality temporarily calmed the tension.  That's when "Get Back" was recorded with Billy Preston on the organ.  Sadly, Billy passed away in 2006, at the age of 59 and he is greatly missed.  This is a great piece of Beatles memoibilia for any Beatles fan or collector.  Have fun bidding and good luck!
