Description
February 5th, 1964 Japanese 1st pressing on the Odeon Label. The letter F, followed by the Y330 price tag at the bottom rear of the sleeve confirm this fact. However, the cover picture was never repeated on any of the other pressings, so this fact alone determines this as a first pressing. Furthermore, it's on beautiful red wax vinyl, much sought after by audiophiles of Japanese records for their quality, and only first Japanese Beatles pressings were on red vinyl, on the Odeon Label originally and then the Apple Label after 1968. This was released on February 5th, 1964; some 5 days BEFORE the next release (Please Please Me) which had an earlier serial number (OR1024). A decision was made quite late to rush this ahead of that one, so on the morning of 5th February, Japanese fans rushed out to buy their first Beatles single. This very record was almost certainly out there among them. It's red, it has the unique pic sleeve of the first pressing, and it's here if you want it!
