Description
Here is an absolutely beautiful copy of the Beatles' LP "Jolly What!," which was released in February, 1964 on Vee Jay Records VLP 1085. The full title of the LP is actually "Jolly What! The Beatles & Frank Ifield On Stage."
Vee Jay had access to the Beatles songs before Capitol got involved. Vee Jay legally had 14 cuts of the Beatles material and they made much use of those songs, using them over and over again to release "new" Beatles albums. Here is one of those albums. Vee Jay had great success with another English artist, Frank Ifield with his song "I Remember You," which was a hit before the Beatles came to America. So, since Vee Jay had both Frank Ifield and the Beatles, and since they were both English, they made up this LP with some of Franks material and some from the Beatles. Although the LP title says "...On Stage," neither act is actually on stage. The LP contains studio recorded songs from Frank and the Beatles.
Although thus LP has been counterfeited, this is a genuine Vee Jay copy with black label and silver "VJ."
Looking at the vinyl in the direct sunlight, it looks so close to Mint. I would say that it is actually closer to Mint than it is to Near Mint, but I have listed it as Near Mint. Visually, the vinyl looks clean! I play tested some of the vinyl. The vinyl played Mint! There was silence in the lead-in grooves and in the grooves between the cuts. The sound was dynamic!
The cover is also Near Mint! It is also very clean and has just a very little bit of shelf wear, so I graded it Near Mint, too.
Here is a really nice copy of a collectible, original Beatles LP that is now 61 years old but looking much younger!
