Here is a rare copy of The Beatles' LP "Revolver" on Capitol Records T 2576 from 1966. This is a PROMO copy of "Revolver."
Just looking at the vinyl, it does have very fine scratches on both sides. But, I was surprised when I actually played cuts on both sides that the vinyI played Near Mint! I play tested some of each cut and all of the lead-in grooves and all of the grooves between cuts. Again, the vinyl played Near Mint. However, I heard 4 "clicks" on all of Side One and about as many on Side Two! The lead-in grooves were silent and the grooves between cuts were silent, except for the mentioned clicks.
We have to remember that this was truly a Promotional Copy and that a radio station might have used it once or twice before they recorded it, or it might have been given to the buyer for a large record chain to sample. Either way, it was used some time in the past 58 years since it was released.
Looking at the cover you can plainly see the PROM of "Promo" stamped in the upper right corner. This was the way Capitol Records differentiated promotional copies of the LP's from commercial copies in the 1960's. I tried get a good shot of the "PROM" by inserting a piece of black paper under the stamping. I also did a shot with a light behind the cover so that it would shine through the holes of the stamping.
The cover is in VG+ condition. The front cover is fine, but there is a wear on the spine and on the back cover.There is a 5" seam split at the bottom right of the cover.
Notice also that when Capitol stamped this LP, that the stamping went right through the inner sleeve, too! I have two shots of that included.
Capitol did not produce too many actual promotional copies of LP's back in the 1960's. They certainly did not produce many promotional copies of Beatles albums. I have a only a few others. So, this is a super rare copy of one of the greatest Beatles albums ever!
This LP will be double-packed with one carton containing the LP inside another, larger carton with bubble wrap for protection.
