The CHIFFONS ORIG.1966 UK PROMO 'SWEET T.G' STATESIDE LP SIGNED BY ALL 4 IN '66

About 15 years ago, I was lucky enough to buy part of a British 60's radio DJ's record collection (I'm damned if I can remember his name now!!). I sold most of it at the time, but hung onto this and a couple of odd other things. But I'm getting rid of my own collection from now on. I asked him about this and he said he was asked to a reception for The Chiffons at EMI's London offices, when the girls visited the UK just as "Sweet Talkin' Guy" was hitting the Top 10 there. He was given this LP then and there, and the girls all signed it for his wife (he'd taken her along, in part, because it was her favourite song at the time and she was well excited about meeting them). He remembers them signing it (in blue biro) on the front, but because it was laminated, it didn't write clearly so they turned it over and all signed the back. You see what he meant too, because if you tilt it in the light, you can see the indentation the pen made. From left to right the indentations read: "Best Wishes - Sylvia" (above her photo); "Best Wishes - Barbara" (above her photo); nothing on Pat's photo; then "Best - Judy, The Chiffons" (above her photo) and "Judy" (much clearer, on her shoulder). Anyway, the real deal is on the back, where they've signed, very clearly, the following:

"The best of Wishes to you (then a name which is NOT so clear) - Barbara of The Chiffons"

"best Wishes from Pat of the Chiffons"

"the Best of Luck to you - Sylvia"

and

"Best - Judy of The Chiffons"

  He said they were lovely girls and his wife ended up chatting to them for quite a while. His wife had since died, and he was selling all his stuff before returning to the UK to live. And that's all I know. It's definitely a beautiful set of signatures, and a nice wee story.

CONDITION:

COVER: (VG++) ...very nice!...just has some staining on the back cover, it looks like from repeated handling really...pretty basic and general stuff...see pix...

VINYL: (VG) ...it appears she played it a lot...has quite a few marks but they're all light-ish, and it plays real well!

LABELS: SIDE 1:  (M-) ... SIDE 2:  (EX-)...Side 2 label has aging spots, a small scratch, plus the promo sticker...
