The Clash: "Combat Rock" Vinyl LP - Original 1982 ( FE 37679) "Should I Stay"

You are bidding on a Vinyl issue of The Clash’s 1982 LP, “Combat Rock.”  This album was originally released in 1982 on the Epic label, and the item for sale appears to be a 1st pressing from 1982.  (EPIC FE 37689). This was their last great album, and contained the huge hits “Rock The Casbah” and “Should I Stay or Should I Go,” as well as “Ghetto Defendant.”

We actually purchased this item decades ago, played it (and enjoyed it!), and it has been sitting in our home (vertically) for the last few decades. 

The LP is in Near Mint condition; it really looks clean.  The LP cover is in great, almost perfect shape, with mostly very sharp corners.   (See photos). The inside sleeve contains photos and miscellaneous information and drawings. Please remember that this album was well taken care of, but it was played as part of our record collection decades ago.  

This item has been stored at room temperature, in a smoke free home.  Please see photos of actual item being sold. 

“Combat Rock is The Clash album most haunted by ghosts. It’s strange and mysterious, poetic and narcotic, but also quirky, colorful and alive, like a jungle in a warzone. The production is hazy and evokes 1982 in a way few other records have. Joe's lyrics are arguably his best of any Clash record, real beat poetry. Joe proves here he belongs amongst the great Beats with his lyrics on this record, with “Straight to Hell” being a stunning example of this - just one of several songs showcasing his incredible writing, filled with compassion, despair, righteousness, desperation and exuberance. This album is the sound of the trip upriver, into the heart of the darkness, not necessarily reaching that destination, but capturing the sound of the journey along the way. Personally, it’s The Clash album closest to this reviewer’s heart. This album is the Clash album one can get the most absorbed in; it's their most evocative, strange, and haunting album, a real jungleworld of vibes and ideas intertwining and co-existing, thriving while fighting for space in the wild overgrowth. It's a world a person can truly inhabit and live in. Combat Rock is maybe not a 5-star record, it has many flaws - but that's what's beautiful about it. I wish they had made a Part 2 to this album, but for now I guess I'll have to content myself with this wonderful LP and the Rat Patrol From Fort Bragg version of this album. Well, I'm not a pro reviewer, but those are a few of my thoughts on this beautiful album I love so much, a flawed almost-masterpiece of musical sound art”.
