Description

The Clash. The Clash. Debut 12” Vinyl LP. Original Release 1977. VG+/EX CBS82000. Matrix Run Out A5/B3 Variant 2.

Absolutely fantastic condition copy of this iconic album which is as close to Near Mint as you will find.

If you are trying to find out exactly which 1977 release this is, on discogs this is the 15th entry from the top. U.K. 1977 release. This is the earlier run of this release with CBS sunburst labels with the arrow under the STEREO at 9pm. Median selling price on this release is £40 with the highest sale recorded at £79. Currently there would seem to be a glut of these on eBay and they are selling much cheaper so grab yourself a bargain while you can.

In the early 2000s with the onset of eBay I set out to replace all of the worn vinyl of my youth with the best replacement copies I could find or afford. I found this one and it is a belter. The condition of this vinyl considering the age is fantastic. You will struggle to purchase a 1977 copy with such little wear.

The record is visually graded as EX. There are no visible scratches or scuffs. The vinyl is bright, shiny and clean. When held under bright light there are a couple of light hairlines on each side but these are the only slight signs this record has been played. Some might grade as Near Mint.

The play grade of the record is;

Side 1. Plays as almost flawless. Listened to all the way through and didn’t hear a single pop or crack during play. Tempted to grade as Near Mint - but there is crackle on the run in groove and some low level crackle between Remote Control and I’m So Bored with the USA in the gap between tracks - so I’ll play safe with EX.

Side 2. Again a very brief bit of crackle on the run in groove but then plays through again without a single pop or click in play. Some very low level background between a couple of tracks but nothing once tracks start. Some might describe as Near Mint. I’m tempted as I have bought records brand new which don’t play this well but again I’ll play safe with EX.

The sleeve has some areas of light rubbing to the rear and some light wear and creasing to the edges and corners. There is a light crease in the centre of the front cover. I have tried to capture these defects in the photos. Overall I would still grade the sleeve as VG+ as it is structurally sound and has no major defects.

Postage quoted for U.K. only. Record will be posted with a signature for insurance purposes.

Please check out my other records for sale. I am always happy to combine postage wherever possible. The record will be posted in a designated vinyl mailer with stiffeners for added protection during transit.

If you are in anyway disappointed with your purchase of this record I will be happy to accept a return and give a full refund. I have tried to give the most fully accurate description but opinions do differ. Pretty certain the buyer will be happy with their investment.
