Description
The Cleftones - For Sentimental Reasons/ 'Deed I Do
(Columbia 45-DB 4720 UK 7" Single 1961)
This is a UK original Demo 7" single pressing. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has white "Columbia" Demo labels which have a large red "A" on the A-side. The labels have a 4 pronged centre, & there is a company "OT" tax code embossed around the spindle hole on the B-side label. The record has 1st press -1N/ -1N matrix stampers. It comes with its original company "Columbia" paper sleeve. Obviously, UK Demo singles were not available to buy in the record shops at the time. They were sent out as promotional items to reviewers, record shop owners, Dee-Jays etc... Therefore, they are quite rare.
This is an excellent early 1960's UK Doo-Wop single. Unfortunately, it is quite a well played copy. However, playback is very decent overall (Please see below for more thorough playback description). Vinyl: There are about twelve light, mild or very mild hairline surface marks. These measure from 0.5 cm to 3.5 cm in length. There is a 6 cm mild to very mild surface rub mark on the A-side too. Otherwise, there are light, mild, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs, or surface rub marks, which can only be seen under a strong light. Overall, Good condition. The labels are in Very Good+ condition & show mild or very mild spindle wear. There is a very small & feint pen mark on the A-side label (see photos). This hardly really notices under a strong light. The company paper sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.
I have fully play tested this 7" single. It plays Very Good to Very Good+ overall. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in some quieter places. There are no noticeable clicks or pops. Overall, a very decent audio copy.
All gradings adhere to UK "Record Collector" specifications. Please be aware that I am an experienced record dealer of 25+ years. Therefore, all gradings will be completely accurate. So please bid with confidence.
