The night before his wedding, musician Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) and his fiancée are brutally murdered by members of a violent inner-city gang. On the anniversary of their death, Eric rises from the grave and assumes the gothic mantle of the Crow, a supernatural avenger, to track down the thugs responsible for the crimes and avenging his beloved fiancée.

Released in 1994, The Crow, a fantasy action horror film directed by Alex Proyas, based off the 1989 comic book ’ The Crow' written by James O’Barr. When lead-star Brandon Lee was accidentally killed whilst filming The Crow, it’s place as a cult classic was cemented. The Crow’s Soundtrack is no exception and brings together a mix of alternative rock and metal, gothic rock, and industrial metal for iconic .

The Crow soundtrack reached #1 on the US Billboard 200,  the album has sold approximately 3.8 million copies in the United States alone and has been certified 3x-Platinum by RIAA

Re-released on 2x Black Vinyl, Side D features an etching of the iconic ‘Crow’ Graphic.

“The Crow” and its soundtrack are inseparable. Deeply reminiscent of their scenes, these gothic anthems have found themselves entrenched in the foundation of the cult comic book film. 

1994 saw something strange happen to the music world. Genres like rock and pop were becoming harder to define as experimental musicians took them to vast sonic territories never before seen. Amongst this new era was the gothic phenomenon and standing at the top of that was "The Crow.” The film celebrates the alternative music scene and through its impressive diversity of genres: hardcore, metal, grunge, goth, industrial, alt-rock and even ballad, this soundtrack offers something for outsiders everywhere to relate to.

A thing of beauty, this soundtrack is also reflective the artists of its time. Featured are The Cure, Stone Temple Pilots, Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against the Machine, Violent Femmes and Pantera, and amongst others, they lend a powerful atmosphere to the film. These musicians embrace the emotions of loss and revenge and offer songs that intensify the films sentiment. 

Dyed hair, smeared eye-liner and nail polish. Whether it was a phase, a lifestyle, feeling like an outsider or that you didn’t belong, there was something in these sentiments that we can all relate to; this soundtrack is the epitome of that. The songs compliment the darkness and emotion of the film and have stood strong in the test of time. This soundtrack has something for everyone, it’s bound to resonate with the 90s scene kid in all of us.
