Description
Pornography is the fourth studio album released by The Cure. It came out on May 3, 1982, and was their best-selling album to that point reaching Number 8 on the U.K. album charts where it remained for the next nine weeks. The lyrics and the music are quite dark and represent them at the height of there “Goth” period. According to Robert Smith he was probably at his lowest point at that time from an emotional standpoint which is clearly captured in the material he was writing at that time. There was one single from the album entitled The Hanging Garden. This album was a significant contribution to the whole “Goth” genre. It is also the last Cure album featuring Simon Gallup on bass.
This is a First Release pressing with the lyrics printed on one side of the inner sleeve and a photograph of the band on the other. In subsequent release these were on a double-sided insert. The record itself is in excellent condition with little if any surface noise, no scratches and no skips. The sleeve shows some signs of wear on the corners and edges, but is overall in very good condition having been stored in a heavy plastic bag since purchased.
