Description

I believe this may be a rare pressing of The Damned's classic 'Lovely Money' single, released in the UK on the Bronze label in 1982 (catalogue number BRO 149).

The most obvious difference between this and the regular version is the labels. The regular version has the Bronze 'evolution of man' label, whereas the labels on this version are silver coloured. But then the fun really begins! On this version:

- the numbers "[2101 248]" appear under the catalogue number on both labels;

- additional people get a songwriting credit: Randy Macdonald on side one and Bob Jones & Randy Macdonald on side two.

And that's not all. The first track on side two is, of course, 'I Think I'm Wonderful'. But the version here has the "Go Get 'Em Floyd" sample and Hendrix-style riff at the end, meaning it lasts about 10 seconds longer than the version on the regular release of this single. The two versions of 'Lovely Money' that appear on this single seem identical to those on the regular release.

With regard to matrix numbers, side one says "BRO 149 A//2". On side two it's a little more confusing! It says "BRO 149", then the letters "DJ" have been scratched out, then it says "B//1". I hope you can see this on the third and fourth pictures (please excuse any reflections on this close up photography).

The picture sleeve (which is the standard one for this release) is in Very Good condition. I would grade the disc as being closer to Good than Very Good; please note, though, that whilst there are some visible scratches/marks which are audible at times, the disc didn't jump when I played both sides.

I can vaguely remember that at the time this single was released, a last-minute change had to be made, because I don't think there was clearance to use the "Go Get 'Em Floyd" sample. Whilst my recollection may be a bit woolly, I wonder if that's the reason why this version of the single was released in what appears to be a hybrid of the DJ version and the regular release? If a collector of The Damned should provide me with additional information that may be relevant while this listing is live, I'll be pleased to include it under "Questions and Answers about this item".

Happy bidding!

I'm always happy to combine postage if anyone wishes to purchase more than one of my 'Buy It Now' items. Please either send me a message beforehand asking for a quote, or commit to buy the items and I'll send you an invoice that includes a fair combined postage amount. Please note, though, that if your multiple purchases exceed £20 in value, I may need to send them 'Signed For' which would include a premium.

Many thanks for viewing this listing.
