Description
The Doors debut 1967 album in Mono....pressed at the Monarch pressing plant in Los Angeles, CA. The vinyl for this copy has all 3 first press indicators: Spelling mistake for 'Break on Through (To The "Oher" Side)' , 'Witmark' credits for 'Alabama Song', and most importantly, the earliest 1st press matrix numbers for this 1st U.S Mono issue.
Due to the iconic and legendary status of this album (and this particular pressing) I have graded each song individually to give potential buyers a better idea of the condition of this record.
Side 1.
1. Break On Through ... EX (minus) 2. Soul Kitchen ... VG 3. Crystal Ship ... VG (minus) 4. Twentieth Century Fox ... VG+ 5. Alabama Song ... Good + 6. Light My Fire ... VG
Side 2.
1. Back Door Man ... VG 2. I Looked At You ... VG+ 3. End of The Night ... Good 4. Take It As It Comes ... Good+ 5. The End ... Fair ~ Good
I would say the record is a good "filler" copy until a $500 ~ $800 Near Mint copy comes your way.
Cover: Very Good .....typical signs of usage....ring wear, rubbing, creases....but I've seen a lot worse.
Original Inner-Sleeve: Very Good....matt textured and slightly thicker paper than on later examples. Small seam splits on all 3 sides...these can be easily repaired.
Record: Fair ~ VG+....(See above for detailed grading) Both labels look nice and free from stains and writing. This being an early pressing the vinyl is thick and heavy. Hairlines, scuffs, and marks can be seen on both sides. No skipping or sticking on any of the songs. Worth having for its historical significance more than anything else.
Matrix Numbers: Side 1 EKL - 4007 A (mon) (MR) (Triangle) 10046 Side 2 EKL - 4007 B (mon) (MR) (Triangle) 10046 - X
