Description
L.A. Woman is the sixth studio album by the American rock band. It was released on April 19, 1971 on Elektra Records. It is the last to feature lead singer Jim Morrison in his lifetime. “Love Her Madly” was released as a single in March 1971, prior to the albums release and reached #20 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles Chart. The album hit # 9 on Billboards Top 200 Albums Chart. The album contains some of the groups most critically acclaimed songs and was heralded for its return to more blues oriented rock. The first pressing covers had a burgundy- colored curved-corner sleeve, framing a clear embossed cellophane insert window glued in from behind. The inner sleeve depicts a painting of Jim Morrison as crucified on a telephone pole. The cover was subsequently banned for the insert and subsequent copies do not feature the die-cut window. Beautiful first state cover here with banned insert and ultra rare hype sticker promoting “Love Her Madly”.
