Description
The Doors 'Strange Days' (EKS-74014) was released at the end of 1967 and is in my opinion, their finest studio album. In fact, most of the songs on the album were already written prior to and during the making of the group's first Lp (The Doors/The Doors EKS-74007) The big difference was that Strange Days was recorded on an 8-Track recorder while their first had been recorded on a 4-Track. This was very liberating for the band and producer Paul Rothschild who further "refined" The Doors' sound. The songs scintillate with an energy and originality which still resonates today. Is there a song more valid and urgent today as the album's opener, 'Strange Days'? An absolute masterpiece.
Condition of Lp Jacket: Near Mint....superb condition with vivid colors; showing only the faintest signs of wear. This particular jacket is quite rare as it was originally printed to house a Mono record (as the photos I've uploaded show) but was used instead for the 'Stereo' version with a black sticker affixed to the front to alert the buyer.
Condition of Original Inner-Sleeve: Excellent.....this one is the non-glossy"textured", matted version. Though there are 2 barely noticeable seam splits and some age discoloration, this inner has a thicker and sturdier feel than its glossy counterpart.
Condition of Record: Side 1 is Near Mint....beautiful shine and outstanding audio on playback. Side 2 is also Near Mint except for 2 brief moments halfway through the last song, (When The Music's Over) which produces several "ticks". The labels are clean and bright and the record is pressed on fairly thick vinyl. I can not emphasize enough how incredible the audio is on this pressing. I've heard just about every pressing of this timeless album and this is among the VERY best. Even with the aforementioned flaw on Side 2, I highly recommend this copy to anyone who loves this album.
