The Doors “The Unknown Soldier”
One-sided blank label Test Pressing 1968
Vinyl condition: VG++ with no visible surface marks. Labels unmarked.
Dead wax matrix:
EKS 45628A 1-1 SRC (logo) ESR-PC
Very small quantities of these ultra rare single-sided white-label test pressings were made and distributed to program directors at key radio stations around the country. This copy was in the collection of WRKO Boston, Massachusetts program director Ken Rapoza who was killed in a 1987 motorcycle accident.
His collection was subsequently inherited by a friend and fellow collector who died in 2024.
This copy is accompanied by Ken’s handwritten notation on WRKO stationary “The Unknown Soldier - new version”. The sleeve is a generic paper one with Ken’s stamp at the top.
