Original true 1st US Mono pressing with the -A1 / -A1 matrix stampers of The Doors’ 3rd studio album “Waiting For The Sun” released by Elektra Records in July, 1968. Original 1st print “Unipak-Pat.Pending” gatefold cover with an original promotional hit single “Includes Hello, I Love You” hype sticker affixed in the upper right-hand corner. The cover features an original 1968 Elektra Records fold-out 5 panel 2-sided “ELEKTRA ‘68” LP release catalog containing a photo of The Doors and the Mono and Stereo catalog number for the band’s first and second album, which were released before “Waiting For The Sun”. 1st print satin mustard brown labels with a large “E” Elektra Records logo and Mono “EKL-4024” catalog number. Very early 1st Mono Columbia Records, Pitman, NJ vinyl with the first -1A / -1A matrix numbers, A / AA mother stampers and “p” pressing plant identifier. The mastering of this copy was performed by Customatrix, a Columbia Records subsidiary, as identified by a small “o” symbol in the trail-off vinyl. The full matrix numbers are as follows: Side 1: o EKL 4024A-1A I p A3; Side 2: o EKL 4024B-1A I p AA2. The album comes with an original Elektra Records gold-white inner sleeve.

I grade the cover as Excellent Plus. It doesn't contain any splits, writing or residue, only having some very light shelf wear in a few places. The interior gatefold is in Near Mint Minus condition. The beautiful sparkling vinyl is in Near Mint Minus condition and has only a couple of barely visible non-feelable surface scuffs. The original Elektra inner sleeve is in Near Mint condition and doesn't have any splits or tears. The labels are in Excellent condition and would be Near Mint Minus if it was't due to a couple of very light spindle marks that are visible only under a strong light source. Aside from that the labels are super clean and don't have any scuffs or wear. The original "Elektra'68" catalog is in great vintage Near Mint condition. The vinyl sounds outstanding only having some light occasional static which most likely will go away if the record is professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
